MARITIME APPLICATIONS

MARINE CLEANER:

As a midships cleaner ALL IN -1 is very effective as a hand wiping material in cleaning the engine room where fuel, oil, smoke, etc. are a problem. Use ALL IN -1 Heavy Duty on a wet cloth to wipe down the area. No rinsing or further wiping is necessary.

ALL IN -1 Heavy Duty is excellent for swabbing down decks and bulkheads. It will not damage paint or wooden surfaces, and helps prevent rust on exposed surfaces.

Small amounts of cleaner may be induced into the ship’s ventilation system by means of an atomising spray to dispel foul air or odours.

ALL IN -1 Heavy Duty will effectively remove stack gases.

ALL IN -1 Extra will remove tarnish and corrosion from copper, brass and silver. Moreover, it will remove light rust from iron and steel when used in a soak tank. Dwell time will depend entirely upon the degree of contamination.

A concentration of 1 part ALL IN -1 Extra to 5 parts water very effectively removes mildew from lines, canopy, sails, rigging, upholstery, keel, etc.

This same mixture removes oil from bilges, decks, hulls, engine and engine cowling; also salt water and salt-water spots from windshields, decks and hull.

ALL IN -1 is completely safe to use throughout the vessel because it has no ingredients to disturb the grain of fine woods; no chlorides to bleach painted surfaces; no detergents to deteriorate plastics and fibreglass; and no petroleum solvents to craze or warp plastics or fibreglass materials.

ALL IN -1 works well when diluted with fresh or salt water and is one of the few cleaning solutions which may be used in any body of water without harming marine aquaculture, flora or fauna, and does not alter marine eco- environmental systems.

ALL IN -1 may be used for all purposes in the food service areas of galleys. See restaurant applications for further details.

HEAVY DUTY CLEANING:

Heavy duty cleaning of fuel tanks, refrigerator containers, engine rooms, boiler fireside wash- downs with no toxic or polluting properties:

Removal of crude oil and other petroleum products from the holds of tankersALL IN -1 should be sprayed into the holds by low volume, high pressure pumps through the use of a revolving spinner head which can be lowered into the hold.

This type of operation suggests the use of a 5% vee jet nozzle. The process of spraying should commence as soon as possible after the ship is empty, so as to prevent the formation of volatile gases from the remaining crude oil or other petroleum residue. Continue the pumping process until ALL IN -1 has covered the entire surface. For best results this solution should be allowed to set for about 1 hour, after which the Butterworth system should be used for 30 - 45 minutes.

It is important to note, at this point, that ALL IN -1 solution can be left on the interior of the holds for periods of time longer than 1 hour with no problem. The initial hour is simply recommended to give it time to break down the crude or like kind petroleum products, and longer periods will not decrease its efficiency, since complete evaporation will not occur. Accordingly, the results will be the same if Butterworthing is delayed 24 hours as if it were done in sequence. After this procedure has been completed, the hold should be clean and gas free. If any gases do remain, however, then spray the interior of the hold with a mixture of 1 part ALL IN -1 Extra to 5 parts water through the revolving spinner - heads. This will leave the tank gas free.

Because ALL IN -1 holds oil in solution and breaks it down to such a degree that it cannot stick back together, this procedure can be completed without fear of creating an oil slick in the wake of the ship. Once the reaction has occurred, the oil begins to lose it’s identity as oil and takes on the characteristics of a water-soluble. There are no reverse emulsions with ALL IN -1.

Cleaning engine rooms with a mixture of 1 part ALL IN -1 Extra to 1-2 parts water will emulsify grease and act as a fire preventative as the product is non-flammable and non-explosive.

Refrigerated containers may be cleaned with a solution of 1 part ALL IN -1 Extra to 2-4 parts water (or greater for lighter soil) parts water. Cleaning with ALL IN -1 will help to eliminate and control odours. Successive cleaning should be easier once all the soil has been removed.

Since ALL IN -1 is non-fuming, enclosed areas such as engine rooms, holds, and ship interiors will not be subject to additional gases and fumes making cleaning less hazardous to the personnel. No special clothing masks, gloves, or other safety gear is required when cleaning with ALL IN -1.

BILGE CLEANING:

Approximately 1 Litre of ALL IN -1 Extra will disperse 9 Litres of oil from ship’s bilges. Agitate with 50-70 Litres of fresh or salt water. If at sea, the roll of the ship will agitate the solution sufficiently. If in the harbour, beat it up with high-pressure water until it goes into solution. When the ALL IN -1 has completely absorbed the oil, the solution should look milky. ALL IN -1 is very effective on “C” type fuel oil.

ALL IN -1 works equally well when diluted with fresh or salt water and will not harm marine aquaculture, flora, or fauna. ALL IN -1 contains no nitrates, phosphates, sulphates, sulphonates, caustics or chlorides.
